TEMPO
Adaptive biometric training companion designed for glanceable exertion pacing and cognitive recovery.
Sample data feeds the interactive mobile views and workout telemetry on this site; no actual HealthKit integration or medical diagnostics are active.
Backend infrastructure including distributed event queues, local CRDT synchronization, and edge validation schemas represent the proposed architectural design for this concept, rather than deployed commercial systems.
Context
- ↳Biomechanical Protocol Map
- ↳Mobile UX Flowchart
Fitness applications are saturated with noisy social feeds, cluttered analytics dashboards, and opaque recovery algorithms.
TEMPO was conceived as a focused study in stripped-down athletic software: zero social friction, uncompromising glanceability, and single-handed thumb ergonomics.
Challenge
During high-intensity training, heart rates exceed 160 BPM and tactile control degrades due to rapid movement and physical exertion.
Standard mobile layouts fail under exertion because touch targets are too small and typographic contrast is washed out in harsh gym lighting.
Approach
We developed an ultra-tactile interface based on reachable thumb zones, massive high-contrast numerals, and single-gesture interactions.
The mobile experience organizes pacing into three clear modes: Weekly Load Planning, Live Session HUD, and Recovery Balance.
Design System
- ↳OLED Component Kit
- ↳Ergonomic Reach Heatmap
A dark OLED-optimized baseline with high-contrast emerald and mineral accents ensures legibility in direct sunlight or dark training facilities.
Every interactive component satisfies a minimum 48px touch target with generous tactile margins to prevent accidental touches during motion.
Engineering & Architecture
Designed around an offline-first execution model where live workout telemetry never pauses for network requests.
The proposed native architecture specifies on-device SQLite databases and local health background sync, while this site displays interactive simulated telemetry.
Proposed production architecture specifies local-first CRDT replication for offline continuity; current web demo runs deterministic mock data.
Outcome & Verification
TEMPO proves that specialized athletic software can be calm, disciplined, and deeply usable without artificial gamification.
The prototype validated that three glanceable operational views can communicate critical exertion pacing in under two seconds.
